Christmas Carol Countdown: December 29: Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Nope… Too obscure… No way! *Sigh* I have one carol left for the new years category, Auld Lang Syne, but that’s going to be for new years eve. So I’m out. Nope, nada. I’m forced to get into the hit singles category. I’ve seen these two rated high on every list I’ve seen so I’ll do one today and one tomorrow.

[Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!] is a song written by lyricist Sammy Cahn and composer Jule Styne in 1945. It was written in July 1945 in Hollywood, California during one of the hottest days on record.

Nice, the weather outside WAS frightful, but not in the way you’d think. Lets see… dig some more… ah! First recorded by Vaughn Monroe. And it skyrocketed to #1 on the Billboard chart in one year. Wow thats cool. No pun intended.

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we’ve no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

It doesn’t show signs of stopping,
And I’ve bought some corn for popping,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight,
How I’ll hate going out in the storm!
But if you’ll really hold me tight,
All the way home I’ll be warm.

The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we’re still good-bying,
But as long as you love me so,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
