Puzzle 23

I created this puzzle myself. It’s pretty good if you ask me.

March 9 2008:
This was the day you helped rescue a code breaker by solely using a clue left by him in his calender. You had the kidnapper arrested. Later he would reveal a coded message of vital importance.

December 26 2010:
Christmas had gone but not without event. The code breaker had received another message, But he was kidnapped Christmas night. Once again you are called up and instantly recognize something. The calendar was once again on January and was the same calendar that the code breaker had last time. It’s inaccurate now so why have it up? You look and see circled areas which you didn’t pay attention to because they were all holidays and of no importance. This time, however, there was one that struck you as odd. January 4 was circled. You ask the police chief if that’s the coder breaker’s birthday. “No,” he replies, “Why do you ask?” You pay no attention and proceed to ask who the suspects are. “Well there are five who have a motive and means, but we have no proof for any of them.” He shows you the list.

You study the list. You think of events that happened January 4th.
A Feast Day… no, no others are circled
Columbus leaves his first expedition to the Americas. No nothing of that sort circled on here.
Then it dawns on you and you have the kidnapper arrested and the code breaker secure.
